From surplus minerals to new resources
One of the things we do at Ecoson is to convert pig manure produced by intensive livestock farming in the Netherlands into biophosphate pellets that are a welcome solution to farmers facing low phosphate levels in other parts of the world. To the Dutch, pig manure is a major headache, having caused a significant phosphate surplus in Dutch agriculture.
Many residuals, many solutions
The repurposing of excess Dutch pig manure into much-needed biophosphate for farmers in other countries is just one example of how at Ecoson we close the loop on economic and ecological sustainability. We treat other forms of manure and food waste similarly, creating not only fertilizer solutions, but also renewable energy.
